ESPN: Real Madrid considering moving next summer friendlies outside the United States
6686 Sports News on November 14 According to ESPN reports, Real Madrid is considering arranging next year’s pre-season friendly matches in other regions outside the United States.
Since 2010, Real Madrid has traveled to the United States for pre-season games almost every summer. In the past few summers, including 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024, the team has traveled to the United States for pre-season warm-up. Last summer, the team also went to the United States to participate in the Club World Cup, but the schedule was tight and they could only fly to Austria to participate in a friendly match.
Although a final decision has not yet been made, Real Madrid is evaluating a variety of economic and market factors to consider a new pre-season destination in the summer of 2026. In contrast, Barcelona did not participate in the Club World Cup last summer, nor did they go to the United States. Instead, they chose Asia to play friendly matches in Japan and South Korea.
It is reported that the United States currently accounts for a small proportion of Real Madrid’s 2026 pre-season options, partly because the 2026 World Cup will be held here.
